Poached Pork Roast Recipe

  • 2 1/2 pounds boneless pork shoulder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups fat free milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Pat pork dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a large frypan over high heat and brown pork on all sides – about 5 minutes.
  3. Add LACTAID(R) Fat Free Milk and simmer, covered, for 2 hours.
  4. Continue to cook pork, partially covered, at a bare simmer until very tender, about 1 hour.
  5. Put pork on a cutting board and let stand 5 minutes.
  6. Season cooking liquid with salt, pepper and garlic powder and boil for 2 minutes.
  7. Thinly slice pork and pour cooking liquid on top.
