- 2 slices streaky bacon, chopped
- 1 tsp butter, melted
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 1 tsp plain flour
- 150ml/¼ pint whole milk
- 50ml/2fl oz double cream
- 50g/1¾oz uncooked sweetcorn
- 6 clams, steamed for 5 minutes (discard anyt hat don't open)
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- fresh chives, to garnish
- thick crusty white bread, to serve
- Fry the bacon for 2-3 minutes, add the butter and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the flour and stir well.
- Gradually add the milk and cream and stir well. Add the sweetcorn and simmer until thick.
- Add the clams and pour into a bowl. Garnish with chives and serve with crusty white bread.
