Staceys Apple Fritters Recipe

Staceys Apple Fritters Recipe

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Granny Smith apple – peeled, cored and finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar for dusting
  1. Stir together the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl until thoroughly combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, butter, egg, and vanilla extract; stir in the apple. Pour the flour mixture into the apple mixture, and stir just to combine.
  2. Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet to a depth of 1/4 inch, and heat over medium heat until the oil shimmers. Drop the batter by rounded teaspoons into the hot oil, and fry on both sides until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side.
  3. Drain the fritters on paper towels, and serve hot with a dusting of confectioners' sugar.
