Spicy Pork Chops with Cumin Raita Recipe

  • 2 pounds pork sirloin chops
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • Raita
  • 1 cucumber
  • 8 ounces plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  1. Rub the chops with canola oil. Mix together the coriander, turmeric, salt, pepper, cayenne and dry mustard and rub this seasoning mixture evenly over chops. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  2. For the Raita: Peel the cucumber and remove the ends. Grate the cucumber and mix together with the yogurt, cilantro, cumin, and coriander. Refrigerate overnight.
  3. The pork chops can be grilled or broiled. Cook for 5 minutes per side per inch thickness.
