Saganaki Recipe

  • 8 ounces feta cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh oregano
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium tomato, thickly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  1. Cut feta into 8 slices. In a small bowl, mix together egg and oregano. Dip feta slices in egg, shake off excess, and coat with flour.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry cheese until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. Arrange on a plate with tomato slices, and sprinkle with pepper. Serve with lemon wedges.
