Nonas Japanese Ume Dressing Recipe

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon umeboshi, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ground black pepper to taste
  1. Place the vegetable oil, onion, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, ginger, umeboshi, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper into a blender. Cover, and puree until smooth, about 30 seconds.
