- 250g/9oz puff pastry
- 150g/5½oz marzipan, cut
- 2 oranges, peeled, segmented and sliced
- into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tbsp honey
- ½ tsp of cinnamon
- 1 free-range egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp of icing sugar
- 55ml/2fl oz double cream, whipped
- 125g/4oz mascarpone
- To make the marzipan orange plait, preheat oven 180C/350F/Gas 4.
- Roll out the puff pastry to form a large rectangle.
- Place the marzipan down the centre of the puff pastry and top with the orange slices.
- Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Cut the sides of pastry making the cuts about one inch markings apart. Plait the pastry across the middle.
- Brush with the beaten egg and place plait onto baking tray.
- Cook in a pre-heated oven for 20 minutes until golden.
- Dust with icing sugar and serve.
- To make the mascarpone cream, mix the whipped cream and mascarpone together in a bowl to a smooth thick consistency. Serve with the orange plait.
