Korean Barbecued Beef Recipe

  • 5 scallions, finely chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted
  • 3 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 pound beef tenderloin, trimmed and sliced into 1/4 inch thick medallions
  1. Grind scallions, garlic, and sesame seeds in a small food processor or with a mortar and pestle. Stir in soy sauce, sugar, water, sesame oil, and vinegar.
  2. Pour into shallow dish. Add beef; turn slices to coat. Cover and chill 45 minutes.
  3. Preheat grill to high for direct heat.
  4. Remove beef from marinade (discard marinade). Grill 2 to 3 minutes, turning once.
