Hot strawberry cake with ice cream Recipe

  • 25g/1oz butter
  • 2 slices ready-made madeira cake
  • handful strawberries
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 100g/3½oz cocoa powder
  • 4 tbsp golden syrup
  • 3 tbsp hot water
  • 2 scoops ready-made vanilla ice cream, to serve
  1. Heat the butter in a frying pan, place the cake slices into the pan and cook for a minute on each side. Remove from the pan and set aside in a warm place.
  2. In the same pan, cook the strawberries with the sugar for one minute.
  3. For the chocolate sauce, place the cocoa powder, golden syrup and hot water into a saucepan and cook over a low heat for 3-4 minutes.
  4. To serve, place the cake slices onto a plate along with the strawberries and ice cream and drizzle with the chocolate sauce.
