Holiday Rosemary and Ham Casserole Recipe

  • 2 pounds cooked ham, cubed
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup grits
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Layer ham into a 2-quart casserole dish.
  3. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Slowly pour grits into the water while stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until the grits are tender and thick, 3 to 4 minutes. Mix Cheddar cheese and butter into grits.
  4. Whisk milk, eggs, salt, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl; stir in rosemary and garlic. Pour grit mixture over ham. Cover casserole dish with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until casserole is bubbling, about 45 minutes.
