Grilled sausages with onion sauce Recipe

  • dash olive oil
  • ½ onion, finely sliced
  • 85g/3oz butter
  • 75ml/2½fl oz white wine
  • 100ml/3½fl oz hot chicken stock
  • ½ fresh red chilli, chopped
  • 3 boerewors (South African) sausages, or other spiced sausages, grilled, to serve
  1. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, add the onion and fry until softened but not coloured.
  2. Add the butter, white wine, stock and chilli and simmer for five minutes.
  3. To serve, place the grilled sausages onto a serving plate and pour over the onion sauce.
