Creamy Cabbage Recipe

  • 1 small head cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • salt and pepper to taste
  1. Remove and discard large outer leaves and core from the cabbage. Slice cabbage (a little thicker than for cole slaw).
  2. Bring to a boil a stock pot of lightly salted water. Add cabbage and cook for about 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the celery seeds and the shallots. Stirring frequently, cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the heavy cream and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 3 minutes (or until cream reduces enough to thicken).
  5. Add the cabbage, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Heat thoroughly (about 2 minutes). Serve immediately.
