Chunky Honey Applesauce Recipe

  • 5 pounds apples (preferably a tart variety or mix of varieties—Jonathans, Granny Smiths, Pippins, or Winesaps), peeled and sliced
  • 1½ cup water or cider
  • ¾ cup sugar or honey
  • dash of lemon juice (optional)
  • dash of cinnamon to taste
  • dash of vanilla to taste
  1. Combine apples, water and sugar in a heavy saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until just tender. Mash a bit with a potato masher for a chunky texture. Add lemon, cinnamon, and vanilla, as desired.
