Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars by CRISCO® Recipe

  • 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup CRISCO® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening or CRISCO® Butter Flavor Stick
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans (optional)
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 13 x 9-inch baking pan with CRISCO(R) No-Stick Cooking Spray. Place cooling rack on countertop.
  2. Place brown sugar, CRISCO(R) Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening or CRISCO(R) Butter Flavor Stick, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg; beat well.
  3. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add to shortening mixture; beat at low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, if desired.
  4. Press dough evenly onto bottom of prepared pan. Bake at for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned and firm in the center. DO NOT OVERBAKE.
  5. Cool completely on cooling rack. Cut into 2 x 1-1/2-inch bars.
