Banana Walnut Brownies Recipe

  • 1 teaspoon shortening, or as needed
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×12-inch baking pan with shortening.
  2. Mix sugar, flour, baking cocoa, butter, walnuts, dark cocoa, eggs, water, vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl until batter is smooth. Pour the mixture into the baking pan; top with bananas.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until top is dry and edges have started to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 30 minutes.
