- 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained
 - 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained
 - 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
 - 1/2 onion, chopped
 - 1/2 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
 - 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
 - 1 lemon, juiced
 - 1 clove garlic, minced
 - 1 pinch salt and fresh coarsely ground black pepper to taste (optional)
 
- Combine garbanzo beans, black beans, tomatoes, onion, parsley, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper together in a bowl. Allow to sit for flavors to blend, 15 to 30 minutes.
