Apple-Nut Spread Recipe

  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 cup O Organics Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 3/4 cup Lucerne Small-Curd Cottage Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  1. In a 6- to 8-inch frying pan, stir almonds over medium-high heat until golden, about 4 minutes. Pour from pan.
  2. In a food processor or blender, whirl applesauce, cottage cheese, orange peel, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth; scrape container sides often. Stir in almonds and sugar to taste. Cover and chill at least 2 hours or up to 3 days.
